Between 15 and 16 March, Sibiu hosted a seminar on dental management delivered by the Association of Dental Office Managers (ADOM), alongside the College of Physicians as co-organiser.
The two days of ADOM courses were personalised and adapted to the dental market in Sibiu. The major challenges of Sibiu doctors, patient-loyalty strategies, optimisation of the medical business in relation to market trends, and success stories shaped the two days of courses prepared by ADOM lecturers. Strategies and mechanisms for streamlining working time, staff costs, consumables costs, the patient-scheduling process, and so on will contribute significantly to improving the quality of the medical act, as well as to increasing the number of patients.
The event offered participants a consistent information package grounded in the Association of Dental Office Managers' constant research into market problems and potential, in the experience of five years of programmes dedicated to dentistry, and in the guarantee of applicability of the strategies taught. Beyond the trainers' experience and the multitude of information from all the fields needed to administer a clinic, the DOM School stands out through the large number of support materials with immediate implementation that each participant receives.
The Association of Dental Office Managers (ADOM) is the only dental-management academy in Romania that trains doctor-owners of clinics and practices, with programmes for planning, optimising, and developing a medical business. For its projects and constant efforts to raise the quality of dentistry, ADOM has created a Community dedicated to doctors and non-medical support staff, which offers priority access to information and programmes of interest in the field.
"From the beginning we have promoted ADOM's mission: to offer participants long-term solutions, as well as mechanisms for creating personalised management — an information base aligned with the situation of the dentistry market in Romania. We have avoided standardising the solutions offered, precisely because every clinic has different needs. The ways of change and improvement, the strategies and resources established, their implementation and analysis, and the solutions for the constant challenges of the business are, however, decisions taken by ADOM participants themselves.

The calendar of events from five years of programmes and courses has taken the Association of Dental Office Managers to many strong cities in the country and abroad, such as Bucharest, Timișoara, Iași, and Chișinău. The ADOM team chose to mark the success to which more than 500 managers and owners of clinics and practices have contributed through a programme of streamlining, development, and innovations dedicated to people in Sibiu.
The exhaustion of the 30 places available in less than 24 hours from the start of enrolments confirmed that there is real interest from the specialist community in Sibiu in practising healthy management.
Participants' attendance at ADOM Sibiu represents their active involvement in the process ADOM has assumed for more than five years: aligning the quality of dental services on the Romanian market with international standards.
"We know how important it is that, after years of study in the medical field, you can access information niche to the specific activity of a dental clinic, truly learn what is involved and what non-financial resources are needed in managing a medical business, as well as information about patients' behaviours with the dentist," declared Erika Ionescu Cioată, ADOM Vice President and lecturer.
That is why the ADOM portfolio supports the mix between the medical act and coordinating a dental practice. This happens through programmes dedicated to dental management, to the teams responsible for the relationship with patients and the administrative activities of reception, as well as programmes dedicated to recruiting and training medical teams.
